First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

If symptoms develop, move individual away from exposure and into fresh air. If symptoms persist, seek medical attention. If breathing is difficult, administer oxygen. Keep person warm and quiet; seek immediate medical attention.

Skin contact

First aid is not normally required. However, it is recommended that exposed areas be cleaned by washing with soap and water.

Eye contact

If symptoms develop, immediately move individual away from exposure and into fresh air. Flush eyes gently with water for at least 15 minutes while holding eyelids apart; seek immediate medical attention.

Ingestion

Seek medical attention. If individual is drowsy or unconscious, do not give anything by mouth; place individual on the left side with the head down. Contact a physician, medical facility, or poison control center for advice about whether to induce vomiting. If possible, do not leave individual unattended.

Immediate Medical Attention

Seek immediate medical attention for eyes and inhalation if symptoms persist or are severe.

Medical Treatment

Preexisting disorders of the following organs (or organ systems) may be aggravated by exposure to this material: lung (for example, asthma-like conditions).

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Regular foam, alcohol foam, water fog, carbon dioxide, dry chemical.

Specific hazards

Organic dusts can form explosive mixtures in air. No special fire hazards are known to be associated with this product.

Instructions

Water or foam may cause frothing which can be violent and possibly endanger the life of the firefighter. Water may be used to keep fire-exposed containers cool until fire is out.

Firefighter Protection

Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus with a full facepiece operated in the positive pressure demand mode with appropriate turn-out gear and chemical resistant personal protective equipment.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Small spill

Scoop or scrape up. Put in container for recovery or disposal.

Large spill

Shovel material into containers.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Provide sufficient mechanical (general and/or local exhaust) ventilation to maintain exposure below level of overexposure (from known, suspected or apparent adverse effects).

Hands

Wear resistant gloves such as: natural rubber

Eyes

Wear safety glasses in compliance with OSHA regulations. (Consult your safety representative.)

Respiratory

Not required under normal conditions of use.

Skin/Body

Wear normal work clothing covering arms and legs.
