First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove the casualty into fresh air and keep him immobile. Seek medical treatment immediately. In case of respiratory standstill give artifical respiration by respirator and send for a doctor.

Skin contact

In case of contact with skin wash off immediately with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing immediately, even underwear and shoes. Consult a doctor if skin irritation persists.

Eye contact

In case of contact with eyes rinse thoroughly with plenty of water and seek medical advice.

Ingestion

Call for a doctor immediately. Provide for plenty of water to be drunken in small gulps (dilution effect). Additionally medical charcoal tablets should be given (1 spoon of medical charcoal suspension in a glass of water).

Symptoms: vomiting Gastrointestinal complaints

Medical Treatment

If swallowed, induce vomiting (if conscious). If swallowed flush stomach, then activated charcoal (carbo medicalis) and sodium sulfate.

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Ventilation systems are required; if ventilation is insufficient, respiratory protection must be worn.

Hands

Gloves made of nitril rubber (NBR). The chemical resistance of the personal protection gloves for this special application should be clarified and confirmed by the supplier.

Eyes

Safety goggles with side protection.

Respiratory

If ventilation is insufficient, wear respiratory protection. Short term: filter apparatus, filter A.

Skin/Body

Liquid-proof protective clothing.

Environmental

Do not discharge into the drains/surface waters/groundwater.
