First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

If breathed in, move the person to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. Consult a physician.

Skin contact

Wash off with soap and plenty of water. Consult a physician.

Eye contact

Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water.

Ingestion

Do NOT induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Rinse mouth with water. Consult a physician.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Use water spray, alcohol-resistant foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide.

Specific hazards

Flammable in the presence of a source of ignition when the temperature is above the flash point. Keep away from heat/ open flame/hot surface. No smoking.

Firefighter Protection

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus if necessary.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Environmental

Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so.

Cleanup methods

collect with an electrically protected vacuum cleaner or by wet-brushing

07

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Avoid inhalation of vapor or mist. Keep away from all sources of ignition. No smoking. Take measures to prevent the buildup of an electrostatic charge.

Storage

Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated location. Opened containers must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. Moisture sensitive.

Fire prevention

Keep away from all sources of ignition. No smoking. Take measures to prevent the buildup of an electrostatic charge.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Use only with adequate ventilation. Use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation or other engineering controls to keep worker exposure to airborne contaminants below any recommended or statutory limits.

Hands

Handle with gloves. Gloves must be inspected prior to use. Use proper glove removal technique (without touching glove's outer surface) to avoid skin contact with the product. Dispose of contaminated gloves after use in accordance with applicable laws and good laboratory practices. Wash and dry hands.

Eyes

Tightly fitting safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields. Use equipment for eye protection tested and approved under appropriate government standards.

Respiratory

Where risk assessment shows air purifying respirators are appropriate, use a full-face respirator with multi-purpose combination (US) or type AXBEK (EN 14387) respirator cartridges as a backup to engineering controls. If the respirator is the sole means of protection, use a full-face supplied air respirator. Use respirators and components tested and approved under appropriate government standards such as NIOSH (US) or CEN (EU).

Skin/Body

The type of protective equipment must be selected according to the concentration and amount of the dangerous substance at the specific workplace.
