Emergency First Aid Measures
Critical first aid procedures for chemical exposure incidents and medical emergencies
๐ซ Inhalation Exposure
Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. Do not leave the victim unattended. Keep patient warm and at rest. Immediately seek medical attention. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If unconscious place in recovery position and seek medical advice. In the event of unconsciousness, apnea or cardiac arrest (no pulse) apply cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Symptoms:
High concentrations may cause anesthesia, asphyxia and, possibly, cardiac sensitization. Inhalation of very high concentrations may cause asphyxia, anesthesia, CNS depresssion (primarily fatigue, dizziness and loss of concentration, with collapse, coma and death in cases of severe overexposure), and possible cardiac sensitization.
๐๏ธ Skin Contact
If frostbite has occurred, seek medical attention immediately; do not rub the affected area or flush with water. To prevent further damage, do not attempt to remove frozen clothing from affected area. If frostbite has not occurred, immediately and thoroughly wash contaminated skin with soap and water. Get medical attention immediately if irritation persists.
Symptoms:
Non-irritating to the skin. Dermal contact with rapidly evaporating liquid could result in freezing of the tissues or frostbite.
๐๏ธ Eye Contact
If eye tissue is frozen, seek medical attention immediately. If tissue is not frozen, thoroughly flush the eyes with large amounts of clean low-pressure water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. If irritation persists seek medical attention.
Symptoms:
If eye tissue is frozen, seek medical attention immediately. Skin or eye contact with rapidly evaporating liquid could result in freezing of the tissues or frostbite.
๐ฝ๏ธ Ingestion/Swallowing
Not applicable (gas).
Symptoms:
Not applicable (gas).
๐จ Immediate Medical Attention Required
Get medical attention immediately. Show this material safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance. Immediately seek medical attention if breathing is difficult, if unconscious, or in the event of unconsciousness, apnea or cardiac arrest. Seek medical attention immediately if frostbite has occurred or if eye tissue is frozen. Get medical attention immediately if skin irritation persists.
Medical Treatment
Treat symptomatically. Treatment of overexposure should be directed at the control of symptoms and the clinical condition of the patient. Treat frost-bitten areas as needed.

๐ญ Engineering Controls
Use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation, or other engineering controls to keep airborne levels below recommended exposure limits.
๐งค Hand Protection
Wear insulated gloves if contact with liquid is possible. The selected gloves must satisfy the European norm standard EN 511 for protection against the cold.
๐๏ธ Eye Protection
Safety glasses Eye protection such as chemical splash goggles and/or face shield must be worn when possibility exists for eye contact due to splashing or spraying liquid. : Safety glasses are the minimum requirements. Use chemical type goggles and face shield when handling liquified gases. The selected goggles or glasses must satisfy the European norm standard EN 166.
๐ท Respiratory Protection
When workers are facing concentrations above the exposure limit they must use appropriate certified respirators. The type of respiratory protection will depend upon whether the maximum exposure concentration is known. If needed, wear a supplied air respirator conforming to a European norm standard such as EN 139 or equivalent. Wear a respirator conforming to EN 371 with Type AX filter designed for low boiling compounds.
๐ฆบ Skin/Body Protection
Clothing such as insulated impervious gloves to protect against exposure to cold liquid or gas should be worn. Choose body protection according to the amount and concentration of the dangerous substance at the work place. Use PPE that is chemical resistant to the product and prevents skin contact. Fire retardant clothing is appropriate for routine occupational use. The selected clothing must satisfy the European norm standard EN 533.
