First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Move to fresh air. If not breathing, begin artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, administer oxygen. Get medical attention.

Symptoms: Irritation to upper respiratory tract (coughing, shortness of breath, wheezing). Breathing in the vapours may cause CNS depression resulting in dizziness, drowsiness, headache, nausea, somnolescence, vomiting, loss of coordination, pupil dilatation, muscular debility.

Skin contact

Remove and isolate contaminated clothing and shoes. If skin irritation occurs get medical advice /attention. Immediately rinse with large amount of water and them wash affected skin with soap and water. Get medical advice if irritation persists. Wash clothing before reuse.

Symptoms: Skin irritation symptoms may include skin reddness, dry skin, edema. The substance may be absorbed through skin.

Eye contact

Flush affected eyes with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible). Get medical advice.

Symptoms: Eye irritation may include redness, pain, burning sensation, tearing.

Ingestion

If victim is conscious and alert rinse mouth, give 2-4 cupfuls of water. Never give anything by mouth if victim is unconscious. Get medical attention.

Symptoms: If ingested the symptoms may include burning sensation, abdominal pain and symptoms listed in "Inhalation". Irritation to throat, esophagus, and stomach (vomiting pain in throat, esophagus, abdominal spasm).

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Use adequate ventilation to keep airborn concentrations low

Hands

Wear nitril or PVC gloves tested to a relevant standard (e.g. Europe EN374, US F739) Breakthrough time > 240 minutes (consult the glove supplier's chemical resistance chart)

Eyes

Safety goggles, face shield

Respiratory

At short exposure or low pollution use respiratory filter device. In case of intensive or longer exposure use self-contained respiratory protective device.

Skin/Body

Wear appropriate protective clothing

Environmental

No special measures are required under normal conditions of use
