First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Assure fresh air breathing. Allow the victim to rest. In case of symptoms, seek medical advice and show label or packaging.

Skin contact

Rinse skin with plenty of water or take a shower for about 15 minutes. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. In case of symptoms, seek medical advice and show label or packaging.

Eye contact

Rince with plenty of water for 10 minutes. Rinse AWAY form the eye that has not been contaminated. If contact lenses are easy to remove, remove them first then clean. Seek medical advice and show container or label.

Ingestion

Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. Seek medical advice immediately and show container or label.

Symptoms: Bruising, nose and gum bleeds, blood in urine and faeces.

Immediate Medical Attention

Administer Vitamin K1 (antidote) under medical supervision. In case of suspected poisoning, measure prothrombin time (INR) on presentation and 48-72 hours after exposure.

Medical Treatment

In case of severe poisoning: blood transfusion. Treatment with phytomenadione (orally or intravenously) may be required for several weeks.
