First Aid Measures
Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents
If symptomatic, move to fresh air. Get medical attention if symptoms persist.
Wash skin with soap and water. Get medical attention promptly if symptoms occur after washing. If burned by contact with hot material, cool material adhering to skin as quickly as possible with water, and see a physician for removal of adhering material and treatment of burn. Get medical attention.
Symptoms: If burned by contact with hot material, thermal burns may occur. Prolonged or repeated skin contact may cause drying, cracking, or irritation.
Any material that contacts the eye should be washed out immediately with water. If easy to do, remove contact lenses. Get medical attention promptly if symptoms occur after washing. If hot material contacts the eye, immediately flush with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention immediately.
Symptoms: Direct contact with eyes may cause temporary irritation. Exposure to hot material may cause thermal burns.
First aid is normally not required. However, if greater than 1/2 liter (pint) ingested, seek medical attention.
Immediate Medical Attention
Seek medical attention if symptoms persist (inhalation) or occur after washing (skin/eye). Immediate medical attention is required for hot material eye contact. For skin burns, see a physician for removal of adhering material and treatment. Seek medical attention if greater than 1/2 liter (pint) is ingested.
Medical Treatment
Burns should be treated as thermal burns. Treat symptomatically.
Firefighting Measures
Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection
Water fog. Foam. Dry chemical powder. Carbon dioxide (CO2).
Do not use water jet as an extinguisher, as this will spread the fire.
Not determined or not applicable.
Use standard firefighting procedures and consider the hazards of other involved materials. This product is not flammable.
Firefighter Protection
Self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing must be worn in case of fire.
Accidental Release Measures
Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection
Keep unnecessary personnel away.
Wipe up with absorbent material (e.g. cloth, fleece). Clean surface thoroughly to remove residual contamination.
Stop the flow of material, if this is without risk. Dike the spilled material, where this is possible. Absorb in vermiculite, dry sand or earth and place into containers. Following product recovery, flush area with water.
Avoid discharge into drains, water courses or onto the ground.

Handling and Storage
Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements
Avoid prolonged exposure. Observe good industrial hygiene practices. Proper sanitation with food grade products is essential.
Store in tightly closed container. Bulk storage vessels are normally required to be heated to maintain the syrup as a liquid. The vessels should be insulated to prevent risk from contact with hot surfaces. Pipe lines should normally be heat traced to prevent solidification and/or reduce viscosity for pumping, and insulated to reduce the contact hazard to personnel.
Observe good industrial hygiene practices. Proper sanitation with food grade products is essential.
Exposure Controls / PPE
Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment
Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas.
Suitable glove barrier materials include: Latex, Natural rubber.
If contact is likely, safety glasses with side shields are recommended. Wear a face shield when working with hot material.
In case of insufficient ventilation, wear a suitable effective type of air-purifying respirator: Organic vapor cartridge.
Selection of specific items will depend on the task.
Emissions from ventilation or work process equipment should be checked to ensure they comply with the requirements of environmental protection legislation.
