First Aid Measures
Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents
Remove person to fresh air and keep comfortable for breathing. Remove to fresh air. Give artificial respiration if necessary. If breathing is difficult, go oxygen.
Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with water. Wash areas of contact with plenty of water. Flush with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Call a physician if irritation develops.
Symptoms: May be absorbed through the skin. May cause irritation, allergic reaction and symptoms similar to inhalation. Will stain areas of contact.
Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Irrigate immediately with large quantity of water for at least 15 minutes. Call a physician if irritation develops.
Symptoms: May cause irritation, redness, pain, and tearing.
Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. Dilute immediately with water or milk. Vomiting may occur spontaneously, but DO NOT INDUCE. If vomiting occurs, keep head below hips to prevent aspiration into lungs. Call a physician immediately.
Immediate Medical Attention
Immediately call a POISON CENTER or physician.
Medical Treatment
Specific treatment (Wash areas of contact with water). Give artificial respiration if necessary. If breathing is difficult, go oxygen.
Firefighting Measures
Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection
Water, water spray, foam, or dry chemical.
Picric Acid raw material is explosive. Picric Acid can decompose explosively in a fire. It forms salts (picrates) rather easily and many of its salts are more sensitive explosives than Picric Acid itself.
Firefighter Protection
Use protective clothing and breathing equipment appropriate for the surrounding fire.
Accidental Release Measures
Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection
Absorb the spill
Materials: Sodium Bicarbonate or a soda ash-sand mixture (10:90)
