First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Move to fresh air. Get medical attention immediately if symptoms occur. If not breathing, give artificial respiration.

Symptoms: Breathing difficulties. Inhalation of high vapor concentrations may cause symptoms like headache, dizziness, tiredness, nausea and vomiting

Skin contact

Wash off immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention immediately if symptoms occur.

Eye contact

Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention.

Ingestion

Do not induce vomiting. Call a physician or Poison Control Center immediately. If vomiting occurs naturally, have victim lean forward.

Immediate Medical Attention

Get medical attention immediately if symptoms occur. Call a physician or Poison Control Center immediately.

Medical Treatment

Treat symptomatically.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Use water spray, alcohol-resistant foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide. Cool closed containers exposed to fire with water spray.

Unsuitable media

Do not use a solid water stream as it may scatter and spread fire

Specific hazards

Extremely flammable. Containers may explode when heated. Vapors may form explosive mixtures with air. Vapors may travel to source of ignition and flash back.

Instructions

Cool closed containers exposed to fire with water spray.

Firefighter Protection

As in any fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent) and full protective gear. Thermal decomposition can lead to release of irritating gases and vapors.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Environmental

Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system.

Cleanup methods

Soak up with inert absorbent material. Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.

Materials: inert absorbent material

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Wear personal protective equipment. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Avoid ingestion and inhalation. Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition. Use only non-sparking tools.

Storage

Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Keep away from heat and sources of ignition. Refrigerator/flammables. Flammables area.

Fire prevention

Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition. Use only non-sparking tools.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas. Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location. Use explosion-proof electrical/ventilating/lighting/equipment.

Hands

Wear appropriate protective gloves

Eyes

Wear appropriate protective eyeglasses or chemical safety goggles as described by OSHA's eye and face protection regulations in 29 CFR 1910.133 or European Standard EN166.

Respiratory

No protective equipment is needed under normal use conditions.

Skin/Body

Wear appropriate protective clothing to prevent skin exposure.
