First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove victim to fresh air. If irritation persists, seek medical attention.

Symptoms: High concentrations may cause central nervous system depression such as dizziness, vomiting, numbness, drowsiness, headache, and similar narcotic symptoms.

Skin contact

Remove contaminated clothing and wash before reuse. Thoroughly wash skin with soap and water. Wash clothing before reuse. Get medical attention if irritation persists.

Symptoms: Prolonged exposure may cause skin irritation.

Eye contact

Immediately flush eyes thoroughly with constantly running water for 15 minutes, lifting the upper and lower eyelids and rotating the eyeball. If contacts are worn, remove contact lenses after 5 minutes and continue to rinse for 15 to 20 minutes. Get immediate medical attention.

Symptoms: Contact causes severe irritation with redness and swelling of the conjunctiva.

Ingestion

Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. GET MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY. Do NOT give liquids to an unconscious or convulsing person.

Symptoms: Ingestion may cause adverse effects.

Immediate Medical Attention

Get immediate medical attention (for eye contact). GET MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY (for ingestion). If exposed or concerned, get medical advice and attention. If medical advice is needed, have product container or label at hand.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Dry chemical powder, alcohol-resistant foam, carbon dioxide (CO₂). Water may be ineffective but water should be used to keep fire-exposed container cool.

Unsuitable media

Do not use a heavy water stream. A heavy water stream may spread burning liquid.

Specific hazards

Flammable liquid and vapor. May form flammable or explosive vapor-air mixture. Reacts violently with strong oxidizers. Increased risk of fire or explosion.

Instructions

Use water spray or fog for cooling exposed containers. In case of major fire and large quantities: Evacuate area. Fight fire remotely due to the risk of explosion.

Firefighter Protection

Do not enter fire area without proper protective equipment, including respiratory protection.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Eliminate ignition sources. Stop leak if safe to do so. Contain any spills with dikes or absorbents to prevent migration and entry into sewers or streams. Evacuate unnecessary personnel. Ventilate area.

Large spill

For large or bulk quantities, after absorption with inert material, collect spillage by sweeping up spilled material and place in a labeled, sealed container for proper disposal. Use only non-sparking tools.

Environmental

Contain any spills with dikes or absorbents to prevent migration and entry into sewers or streams.

Cleanup methods

Clean up any spills as soon as possible, using an absorbent material to collect it. For large or bulk quantities, after absorption with inert material, collect spillage by sweeping up spilled material and place in a labeled, sealed container for proper disposal. Use only non-sparking tools.

Materials: absorbent material, inert material

07

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Wash hands and other exposed areas with mild soap and water before eating, drinking or smoking and when leaving work. Avoid breathing vapors, mist, spray. Take precautionary measures against static discharge. Use only non-sparking tools. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothing. Handle empty containers with care because residual vapors are flammable.

Storage

Store in a dry, cool place. Keep/Store away from direct sunlight, extremely high or low temperatures and incompatible materials. Store in a well-ventilated place. Keep container tightly closed. Keep in fireproof place.

Hygiene

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety procedures.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas. Follow protocols for handling flammable materials when in bulk liquid form.

Hands

Chemically resistant gloves are recommended, but not required.

Eyes

Not required for normal conditions of use. Use eye protection when handling as a bulk liquid.

Respiratory

Not required for normal conditions of use. If exposure limits are exceeded or irritation is experienced, approved respiratory protection should be worn.

Skin/Body

Not required for normal conditions of use. Wear suitable protective clothing when handling as a bulk liquid.
