First Aid

Emergency First Aid Measures

Critical first aid procedures for chemical exposure incidents and medical emergencies

Inhalation Exposure

If inhaled, remove to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. Obtain medical attention if breathing difficulty persists.

Symptoms:

Overexposure may be irritating to the respiratory system. In high concentrations may cause narcotic effects. Symptoms may include dizziness, headache, nausea and loss of co-ordination.

Skin Contact

Wash skin thoroughly with mild soap and water. Obtain medical attention if irritation develops or persists.

Symptoms:

May cause mild skin irritation.

Eye Contact

Immediately rinse with water for a prolonged period (at least 15 minutes) while holding the eyelids wide open. Obtain medical attention if irritation develops or persists.

Symptoms:

Causes eye irritation. Liquid and vapors may cause excess blinking and tear production.

Ingestion/Swallowing

Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical attention if a large amount is swallowed.

Symptoms:

If a large quantity has been ingested : Headache. Nausea. Vomiting. Abdominal pain.

Immediate Medical Attention Required

Obtain medical attention if breathing difficulty persists (inhalation), if irritation develops or persists (skin/eyes), or if a large amount is swallowed (ingestion).

Exposure Controls & Personal Protective Equipment

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and required safety equipment

Engineering Controls

Good mechanical ventilation may be adequate formaintaing airborne concentrations below established exposure limits for large uncontrolled releases. If exposure limits are exceeded and inhaled: use a NOISH approved respirator.

Hand Protection

Not required for normal conditions of use.

Eye Protection

Not required for normal conditions of use.

Respiratory Protection

Not required for normal conditions of use. An approved organic vapour respirator/supplied air or self-contained breathing apparatus must be used when vapour concentration exceeds applicable exposure limits.

Skin/Body Protection

Not required for normal conditions of use.

Environmental Exposure Controls

Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas.
