First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Move victim to fresh air. If symptoms persist, consult a doctor. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen, in the absence of breath use artificial respiration. Seek medical advice immediately.

Symptoms: Irritation of eyes, nose and throat. Metallic taste in the mouth, dryness and irritation of the throat, chills and fever.

Skin contact

In case of burns immediately cool the skin, apply dressing contact with doctor. In case of skin injury by sharp edges, clean, disinfect and dress the wound, if necessary, contact with doctor. In the case of persistent irritation consult a dermatologist.

Symptoms: Burns, skin injury by sharp edges.

Eye contact

Rinse eyes with running water with wide-open eyelids, a continuous stream of water for about 10 minutes. In the case of persistent irritation consult an ophthalmologist.

Symptoms: Irritation by fumes or dust.

Ingestion

Not applicable

Immediate Medical Attention

In the event of health problems, immediately contact doctor. Seek medical advice immediately for inhalation.

Medical Treatment

No specific antidote, treat symptomatically.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Use powder extinguishing agents for metals. If they are not available, just use dry sand.

Unsuitable media

Do not use a direct stream of water – risk of explosion of steam, halogenated compounds

Specific hazards

Thermal decomposition of the product may produce harmful smoke and gases. Avoid inhalation of combustion products, may pose a threat to health. Product in handling form is not flammable. Danger creates fine particles of product which may accumulate when working in dry conditions, or in the presence of oil mist. Dust the product are rapidly burning in fire. Form explosive mixtures in air. After igniting the material is virtually impossible to extinguish. Fire-fighting action should be limited to isolate the burning material, for example by covering with sand or cement and prevent the spread of fire. Melted product reacts violently with water, can cause an explosion.

Instructions

Fire-fighting action should be limited to isolate the burning material, for example by covering with sand or cement and prevent the spread of fire.

Firefighter Protection

Strictly apply the breathing apparatus and protective clothing for fire fighting or during clean-up work immediately after a fire in an enclosed or poorly ventilated areas.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

In case of release of the product, move damaged packaging of the product into an empty container. Released product gather in closed container for disposal or reuse.

Environmental

Do not allow to enter drains, groundwater, soil and open water courses.

Cleanup methods

Released product gather in closed container for disposal or reuse.

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Avoid contact with eyes and skin, breathing dust of product created by cutting, sanding operation with product. Use personal protective equipment. Ensure adequate ventilation/exhaust in the workplace, prevent the formation of harmful concentrations of dust in the air, work in well ventilated areas. Observe good personal hygiene and wear protective clothing in accordance with information set out in section 8. Do not touch or move the castings of aluminium or hot materials before checking their temperature. Aluminium does not change colour when heated.

Storage

Store product in dry storage rooms. Keep away from sources of heat and fire.

Hygiene

Observe good personal hygiene and wear protective clothing. Ensure place for eyes and skin rinsing, provide easy access to running water, wash hands with soap and water before eating, smoking and after work, use general caution while working with chemical substances.

Fire prevention

Store and use the product while ensuring adequate ventilation away from potential ignition sources like open fire.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Use engineering controls to reduce air contamination to permissible exposure level. Explosion-proof general and local exhaust ventilation. Monitor exposure and apply all possible technical measures to ensure the maintenance of the concentrations of hazardous products in the workplace below recommended exposure limits.

Hands

Recommended protective gloves. Standards: EN ISO 21420:2020, EN ISO 374-1:2017/A1:2018, EN ISO 374-2:2020, EN 16523-1:2015+A1:2018, EN 407:2020.

Eyes

Safety glasses in a sealed cover (goggles) (e.g. EN 166). Standards: EN ISO 16321-1:2022, EN ISO 16321-3:2022, EN ISO 4007:2018.

Respiratory

Not necessary under normal conditions with sufficient ventilation, required during exposure to high concentrations of dust. Wear mask or respirator completed with the antidust filter. Standards: EN 140:1999/AC:2000, EN 143:2021, EN 149:2001+A1:2009.

Skin/Body

Protective, working clothing. Body protection must be chosen depending on activity and possible exposure (according to EN ISO 13982 in case of dust). Standards: EN ISO 13688:2013, EN 14605:2005+A1:2009, EN ISO 20345:2022.

Environmental

Do not allow to enter large amounts of product into ground water, sewage, waste water or soil.

Stability and Reactivity

Chemical stability, hazardous reactions, and incompatible materials

Stability

Stable under normal conditions (see Section 7 – storage conditions)

Reactivity

Not applicable for product in handling form.

Hazardous reactions

No data

Avoid

In the case of dust creation avoid sources of ignition (dusts of aluminium alloys may form explosive mixtures with air). Aluminium castings must be stress-free against possible parting in order to prevent an explosion or a sudden cracking. During the melting of aluminium, aluminium alloy or aluminium scrap, eliminate the possibility of water intrusion. Water or moisture contact with hot or melted metal can cause a violent explosion. During the operation of heating and melting should be eliminated possibility of contact with strong oxidizing agents, to prevent the possibility of explosion.

Incompatible

Product may react with strong acids, alkalis and oxidizing agents to form hydrogen, which is flammable. Contact with chlorine-based solvents can lead to release of toxic and corrosive hydrogen chloride gas. Hot aluminium can react with solvent-based chlorine to form phosgene, a highly toxic and irritating gas.

Decomposition

Under normal conditions of use are not known
