First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Supply fresh air. In case of breathing difficulties or respiratory arrest, initiate artificial respiration. Call a doctor immediately.

Symptoms: Breathing difficulty, danger of pneumonia, danger of pulmonary oedema, danger of impaired breathing.

Skin contact

Flush contaminated skin with soap and plenty of water. After prolonged contact or any signs of skin changes (redness or other signs of inflammation) seek medical attention.

Symptoms: Redness or other signs of inflammation.

Eye contact

Rinse out opened eye for several minutes under running water. Remove any contact lenses if possible. Continue rinsing.

Ingestion

Rinse mouth thoroughly with water. Make victim drink water (two glasses at most). In case of vomiting, observe the risk of aspiration. Call a doctor immediately.

Symptoms: Gastric or intestinal disorders.

Immediate Medical Attention

Call a doctor immediately (after inhalation, after swallowing). Seek medical attention after prolonged skin contact or any signs of skin changes. If necessary, oxygen respiration treatment. Monitor circulation. Later observation for pneumonia and pulmonary oedema.

Medical Treatment

If necessary oxygen respiration treatment. Monitor circulation. Later observation for pneumonia and pulmonary oedema.

Hands

Solvent resistant gloves Protective gloves The glove material has to be impermeable and resistant to the product/ the substance/ the preparation. Selection of the glove material on consideration of the penetration times, rates of diffusion and the degradation The selection of the suitable gloves does not only depend on the material, but also on further marks of quality and varies from manufacturer to manufacturer.

Respiratory

Not necessary if room is well-ventilated.
