First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove to fresh air. Ensure airway is clear and breathing is comfortable. Monitor breathing. If breathing becomes difficult, get medical help. Seek medical attention if required.

Symptoms: Nose & throat irritation, headache, dizziness, difficulty breathing, coughing. Aspiration of material into the lungs can cause chemical pneumonitis which can be fatal.

Skin contact

Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash affected area with soap and water. If skin is damaged/painful - Seek medical attention.

Symptoms: redness, burning, rash, dryness.

Eye contact

Flush eyes and eyelids with water for 20 minutes. Hold eyelids apart to ensure flushing of the entire contaminated area.- Seek medical attention.

Symptoms: redness, burning, tearing, blurred vision. Exposure to this product will burn and injure the eyes. Prolonged exposure will cause eye damage, possibly permanent.

Ingestion

Wash out mouth with water. Remove dentures, if any. Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. Keep head low so that any fluids do not enter the lungs. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious or convulsive person. If unconscious, place in recovery position with airway open.-seek medical attention.

Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, cramps. Aspiration hazard if swallowed. Can enter lungs.

Immediate Medical Attention

Seek medical attention if skin is damaged/painful, for eye exposure (especially if prolonged exposure causes damage), if aspiration hazard is suspected after ingestion, or if breathing becomes difficult after inhalation.
